Maureen, owner of Dwell Yoga, entered into the world of yoga in 2012, not knowing where this journey would take her. With two young daughters at the time, she was simply looking for an hour to herself to move and breathe. The elements of yoga were not new to her. Her mom, Paula (also a Dwell Yoga Instructor) had a lengthy fitness career and had already been teaching yoga for 10 years, and Maureen herself had spent 15 years in the fitness and wellness industry.  Before life as a stay-at-home mom, Maureen enjoyed working as a health and wellness writer, a consultant developing corporate wellness programs around the country, and as a fitness specialist trained at the world renowned Cooper Clinic. She obtained her Master of Science degree in Health Promotion from the University of North Texas and holds a Nutrition degree from Texas Woman’s University.

However in the fall of 2013, God nudged her to pursue her 225-hour yoga certification through Holy Yoga. Not knowing fully what she was saying yes to, God lead the way and allowed her to develop a following of students through her business, Frisco Holy Yoga. Maureen regularly taught at the Sacred Space studio in Frisco as well as lead special workshops for high school athletes, Girl Scout Troops, Sky Ranch Mother-Daughter weekend, church groups and more. Maureen has also completed Holy Yoga Touch Training, Holy Yoga Kids Yoga Training, and Holy Yoga Therapy, a 220-hour advanced program. But in the fall of 2017, God nudged her again with a dream of opening a Christ-centered yoga studio in Frisco. As a response to God’s goodness and provision in her life, Maureen founded Rooted116, LLC (based on Psalms 116) to house whatever business would grow from the seed planted in her heart. This seed became Dwell Yoga.

You will find Maureen teaching a variety of Holy Yoga classes at Dwell. Her heart is to provide opportunities for her students to experience yoga as a moving, breathing worship of the Lord, through the postures, the breath and the mediation of the heart.
